Hi there, my name is Rich. I have been working for about 30 years now and by that I mean, just working. I have had professional-type jobs and have gotten quite good at my soft skill mastery in them, from cross-functional communication, project management, and team leadership to knowing how to just communicate with others. Last year, I decided that I was tired of just doing “stuff”. It was time for a career, albeit a bit late in life, LOL.

I have always had an interest in technology. In fact, I studied COBOL in the early 90's at my university and enjoyed it. I found a FullStack JavaScript Web Development Boot Camp and thought, this is it!! And do you know what? I was right!! Talk about coming around full circle. I enjoy the building and analysis that it takes in software engineering and I decided that I will stake my new claim as a software engineer. I thrive when I am able to solve problems and make things easy and usable. This is what I strive for in my code. To me, it just has to be right. In the end, I see that all of this experience that I thought was just doing "stuff" has culminated into a nice bag of skills that will complement my new career quite nicely.

Since getting my developer certification in December 2017, I have been taking more course trainings to reinforce and expand the skills I have learned. There is no stopping my learning and growing!! Now, I am ready to take that step over the ledge and leap into the software engineering arena.

In my spare time, I enjoy photography, music (both listening to and attending concerts near and far), video games (console only.. sorry!), movies, cooking (love to cook), and enhancing my development skills. I'm quirky, weird and love to have fun and make others feel comfortable and laugh. I also enjoy mentoring and helping others.
